City of New Richmond Manure Digester

 

Position

The Board of the Town of Star Prairie is opposed to the proposed Manure Digester on parcel 261-1347-11-000 in the City of New Richmond.

The Board believes that a Manure Digester is incompatible with and can cause extreme risk to the existing public infrastructure, Comprehensive Plans, and the natural resources within the City of New Richmond and Town of Star Prairie, and St. Croix County as a whole.

The identified location at the corner of 115th  Street and N 4th Street borders the Town of Star Prairie and the Town Board has fielded many calls from concerned citizens. A significant portion of the Town of Star Prairie is within the Extraterritorial Zone of the City of New Richmond. Any pollution from a facility at this location, whether to air or groundwater, road degradation or noise pollution, would adversely affect property owners and property values in the Town of Star Prairie. This proposal does not present a positive development for our area.
